Job Description

The Project Manager, Electrical (PM) is responsible for project management through the delivery of various projects within the Maintenance & Construction Division. Operating in a diverse and competitive environment, this position will manage projects from start to finish, ensuring safe, effective operations with a client-centered focus. Projects will be completed within required guidelines according to schedule, contract specifications, timelines, and budgets to drive successful outcomes for continued growth and success. Collaboration with others will be vital to keeping open lines of communication and maintaining high standard of service delivery. The PM will always perform work and ensure adherence to FLINT's core values and exemplary ethical standards. What would you be doing?  

  • Manage capital projects with a value up to 100M CAD
  • Accountable for project performance, facilitate the scope determination, schedule, budget and technical deliveries
  • Lead the preparation and project implementation team
  • Coordinating with cross discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules
  • Manage the resource and time allocation required to ensure project progress in coordination with other departments
  • Organize kick off meeting and project follow up meeting to identify and resolve issues
  • Establish effective project communication plans and ensuring their execution.
  • Lead and support the project team to meet all defined KPI’s
  • Coordinate the cost estimate required as per client’s Capital Value Process
  • Coordinate the construction of the engineering work packs
  • Oversee the bid comparisons 
  • Being accountable for providing regular project reports (cost, Schedule)
  • Ensure quality insurance and compliance with our client’s capital project process
  • Manage and prepare work plans, contractor bidding documents, requests for proposals, and contractor procurement.
  • Management, control, forecast, and monitor all costs associated with projects. Monitor site progress against planned work.
  • Accountability to and follow-up to ensure interfaces between different groups contributing to the project are correctly monitored and managed, including management of subcontractors in the field.
  • All project risks are identified and properly managed by owning and maintaining the project risk register.
  • The correct technical input is incorporated into all technical documentation and is approved by leadership team (if required).
  • Establish and manage a system of recording, tracking, and progressing all project documentation with the use of the project management software.
  • Liaise with government and regulatory contacts in representing clients in its regulatory applications and submissions.
  • Support the analysis of environment and regulatory risks and opportunities for new business considerations.
  • Maintain and develop vendor and other professional contacts.
  • Participate in training events, project meetings, and team meetings.
  • Implement corporate and client safety programs.
  • Administrative duties including claims, invoices, and all other paperwork is done within timelines.
  • Other projects and assignments as required.

 

Does this sound like you? 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Journeyman Electrician/Instrumentation Tech.
  • PMI certification or post-secondary project management training is preferred.
  • 3+years of professional and in-depth experience…
  • Minimum 10 years’ management and supervisory experience. 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience managing multi-million-dollar projects. 
  • Superior client service skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, probe, analyze and solve complex issues. 
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and achieve quality standards. 
  • Strong organizational skills, including effective prioritization and follow-up. 
  • Working knowledge of such computer programs as spreadsheets, word processing, scheduling software, and project management software. 
  • Strong knowledge of quality control and construction safety. 
  • Strong understanding of Project Control mechanisms.  Experience with MS office projects, specifically with Excel and macro-V lookups
  • Business and Financial Acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well both independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence decision makers. While effectively building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Able to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic and productive team environment.
  • Proficiency in either MS Project or P6
  • Proactive approach to problem solving with a strong ability to take initiative.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with individuals from various backgrounds and organizations.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication required. 
  • Physically capable of performing all necessary duties of the job, including but not limited to heavy pulling, pushing and lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, shovelling, bending, twisting, etc.
