Job Description

We're looking for an HSE Lead who possesses extensive knowledge of HSE standards and has more than 5 years of focused experience in the oil and gas sector. As the HSE Lead, your main duties will involve fostering a safety-centric culture among staff and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations, and offering technical guidance on HSE matters.

 

Your knowledge of HSE Management Systems, NCSO certification, and relevant safety tickets will be instrumental in managing incident investigations and supporting WCB management. With your excellent leadership and communication skills, you will effectively lead, coach, mentor and guide our workforce to safety success daily.


This full-time permanent role will provide support for maintenance and construction projects. The role will operate on a Monday-to-Friday schedule, but it demands flexibility and availability to work evenings and weekends when required. The candidate must be willing to travel to remote sites an average of 3-4 times per week.

 

What would you be doing?

  • Continually promote to employees and third-party subcontractors the importance of the Health and Safety Environment and ensure they are safety-focused and conduct their business according to our core values.
  • Provide support, coordination, and technical expertise in environment, health, and safety, and support the site in training and developmental requirements.  
  • WCB management, in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Assist management with incident investigation and reporting. 
  • Interpret and advise employees on compliance related to OHS and company standards. 
  • Assist with incident investigations to ensure cause and corrective actions are addressed.

Does this sound like you?

  • Certification as a National Safety Codes Officer (NCSO) and/or Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (OH&S) are preferred.
  • Knowledge/experience with HSE Management Systems and audit tools, including Alberta Partnerships Certificate of Recognition (COR).
  • Holds the following tickets: H2S Alive, First Aid, and Common Safety Orientation (CSO).
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple client safety programs.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication required.
  • Physically capable of performing all necessary duties of the job, including but not limited to heavy pulling, pushing and lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, shoveling, bending, twisting, etc.
