Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team, focusing on projects within the upstream and midstream oil and gas sector in Alberta (including grassland reclamation experience). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, exceptional communication skills, and extensive experience in the upstream and midstream  oil and gas industry. The position is approximately 80% office-based (hybrid work available from our Calgary and Sherwood Park offices), and an expectation of about 20% of the time in the field monitoring the progress of your project and meeting with clients. 

 

The Senior Project Manager (PM) is responsible for project management through the delivery of various projects within the Environmental Services Division.  Operating in a diverse and competitive environment, this position will manage projects from start to finish, ensuring safe, effective operations with a client-centered focus.  Projects will be completed within required guidelines according to schedule, contract specifications, timelines, and budgets to drive successful outcomes for continued growth and success. Collaboration with others will be vital to keeping open lines of communication and maintaining high standard of service delivery. The PM will always perform work and ensure adherence to FLINT's core values and exemplary ethical standards.

 

What would you be doing?

  • Work within larger projects while providing strategic planning, aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Makes critical project decisions.
  • Manage and prepare work plans, contractor bidding documents, requests for proposals, and contractor procurement.
  • Management, control, forecast, and monitor all costs associated with projects. Monitor site progress against planned work.
  • Accountability to and follow-up to ensure:
    • Interfaces between different groups contributing to the project are correctly monitored and managed, including management of subcontractors in the field.
    • All project risks are identified and properly managed by owning and maintaining the project risk register.
    • The correct technical input is incorporated into all technical documentation and is approved by leadership team (if required).
  • Establish and manage a system of recording, tracking, and progressing all project documentation with the use of the project management software.
  • Liaise with government and regulatory contacts in representing clients in its regulatory applications and submissions.
  • Support the analysis of environment and regulatory risks and opportunities for new business considerations.
  • Maintain and develop vendor and other professional contacts.
  • Participate in training events, project meetings, and team meetings.
  • Implement corporate and client safety programs.
  • Administrative duties including claims, invoices, and all other paperwork is done within timelines.
  • Other projects and assignments as required.

Does this sound like you?

  • Completion of Technical Diploma or University Degree in environmental science, engineering or related discipline.
  • Must possess or be eligible for professional designation (P.Ag, RP.Bio, P.Eng, P.Geo., etc)
  • Other education which may include business management, project management or other related technical specialties.
  • Minimum 10 years of project management-related experience preferably in environment-related projects.
  • 8+ years of relevant regulatory and environmental consulting experience.
  • Business and Financial Acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well both independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence decision makers. While effectively building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Able to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic and productive team environment.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving with a strong ability to take initiative.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with individuals from various backgrounds and organizations.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
