Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Operational Delivery, the Construction Director will be responsible for the Centre of Excellence, overseeing all aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and of the highest quality. This role requires strong leadership, construction management, technical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

This permanent position can be based in any FLINT Corporate or Regional office. This includes Calgary, Sherwood Park, Grande Prairie, Fort St. John, Red Deer, Fort McMurray, and Swift Current. 

 

What would you be doing?

  • Oversee diverse projects, ensuring production and quality excellence while driving efficiency and compliance with technical standards and codes.
  • Utilize your extensive experience for rigorous planning and execution management.
  • Optimize project outcomes through evaluation, planning, engineering/design, fabrication, transportation, installation, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrate industry-specific expertise, ensuring compliance with standards and practices.
  • Collaborate with functional and line personnel to establish optimal construction project execution strategies and plans.
  • Champion risk identification and mitigation.
  • Coordinate construction resources for efficient execution.
  • Monitor project progress and address issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Maintain interface with functional departments.
  • Conduct regular meetings to communicate project goals, objectives, and expectations effectively.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures for a secure work environment.
  • Address quality issues promptly and effectively.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for stakeholders.
  • Participate in strategic planning and project reviews.
  • Apply your expertise across the project lifecycle, from RFP to project delivery, ensuring success at every stage.
  • Establish best practices and constructability metrics to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project expenses and track budget adherence during construction.
  • Prepare regular financial reports for senior management.

Does this sound like you?

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in construction management, with a minimum of 15 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and best practices.
  • Excellent construction management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Certification in construction management or a related field is a plus.
  • Safety Management experience of training in safety excellence
