Job Description

This is an Expression of Interest to build our pool of E&I Managers for project work on client sites, based out of our office in Whitecourt, Alberta.

 

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Manager plays a key role in ensuring safety and profitability in their assigned area. Their focus is on smooth operations and financial success, with a commitment to meeting current client needs and planning for future growth in our E&I business. What would you be doing?  

  • Lead and play an active role in delivering FLINT's HSE policies, programs, and initiatives. Be a role model of the FLINT safety culture to field supervision, fostering a zero-incident safety culture as a natural part of all work performed.  
  • Manage day-to-day operations for the E&I business within the local and surrounding area.
  • Manage key client relationships, providing estimating and project management support.
  • Support and actively participate in the Strategic Account Management plan related to the key customers in the assigned districts.
  • Promote the company through personal involvement at local community and customer events, trade shows, local business associations, etc. Develop local business plans and implement annual operational strategies in the context of the district's business strategy.
  • Provide sales support by pursuing opportunities in the assigned area for business growth and expansion through networking with potential clients and local community involvement.  
  • Participate in developing annual revenue and profitability goals for the district; develop short- and long-term forecasts; accountable for the overall financial performance of the district, including budget development, forecasting, monitoring, variance analysis and reporting on financial targets. Monitor business metrics against targeted performance standards and provide analysis on variances to targets.   
  • You'll oversee and support a team of project managers and superintendents.

Does this sound like you?   

  • Journeyperson Electrician or Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician trade certification and technical hands-on experience considered a strong asset.
  • At least 2-3 years' Oil & Gas and/or industrial contracting service experience in a manager-level role. 
  • Significant experience providing electrical estimates is an asset.
  • Your history reflects a successful track record in leading teams of project managers and superintendents.
  • Brings an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven record of developing and managing new business opportunities through an established network of relationships in the industrial sector. 
  • E&I trade knowledge, including materials, suppliers, QAQC, estimating, code, E&I best practices and procedures.
  • Highly effective at translating business priorities into operating realities with a proven ability to work at all levels (with customers and internally) to execute operating plans safely, within budget, and with quality and schedule requirements.
  • Ability to create a safe, collaborative, and respectful working environment and culture. 
  • A very effective, people-oriented leader with a reputation for quickly building credibility and successfully attracting, mentoring, motivating and respecting employees. 
  • Strong strategic planning and analysis skills in sales, marketing, and business (competitive) strategy. 
  • Lead by example by building and maintaining positive working relationships with customers and internally, resulting in continuous improvement and operational excellence. 
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication required.
  • Physically capable of performing all necessary duties of the job, including but not limited to heavy pulling, pushing and lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, shoveling, bending, twisting, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Projects considered an asset.
